NuiqsutWe at Nuiqsut Trapper School appreciate the opportunity to inform you on what’s happening at the school. Attached this month, you will find our site attendance incentive program and a list of the events coming up within the school. We look forward to seeing you at the many events that are coming up within our school.

Thanks,

John Bruce – K-12 Principal

Phone System

We have a new phone system at the school and some of the kinks are still getting worked out of it. Transferring phone calls is one of those “kinks”. The school is asking that patrons please be patient as everything gets worked out with the system.

Tutoring

October sped by fast. We have started with our tutoring program. That program will extend into the new year. In January 2020, Sylvan tutoring will also be introduced. This will be in addition to the tutoring already offered. In regards to the after school and sylvan tutoring, there will be a limited number of slots available. If a student isn’t selected for tutoring the first go around, the it may still take place at a later time.

Athletics

Trapper Middle School will be hosting Wainwright and Kaktovik over Halloween Weekend. We will put the game times out over VHF as the schedule was still a little unsure at the time this was printed (Weather). Please come support our Middle School Volleyball Players as they work hard in building their skill level up towards Varsity competition.

The Trapper Varsity Volleyball Team will host the weekend of November 7th-10th. Point Hope, Fort Yukon, and Kaktovik will be here. Please see the Events section, and keep a listen to the VHF for extra events leading up to that weekend.

Help Needed

Trapper School will need a backup Rec Worker as we get into November for the gym to remain open. Right now, we are running with only 2 workers available – a district requirement. We have no back-ups. Anybody who wants to work for the district, must have passed a district criminal background check and application. Volunteers can’t be accepted as that goes around the process mentioned before of an application and criminal background check. It is also a liability issue for the school.
